A New Chapter, The Same Values
Spiral UK is now employee owned. As we enter our fifth decade of British staircase manufacturing, we’ve taken a deliberate step to safeguard everything that has defined us since 1985 – our craftsmanship, our culture, and our commitment to the people who build every staircase we deliver.
What is an Employee Ownership Trust?
An Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) places a meaningful stake in the business collectively into the hands of the people who work here, rather than an external buyer or investor. Day-to-day leadership continues exactly as before – complete continuity for our customers, partners, and suppliers, with no disruption to how we design, manufacture, or install a single staircase.
Why We Made the Change
After four decades of independent, family-rooted growth, employee ownership was our answer to a simple question: how do we protect what makes Spiral UK, Spiral UK, for the next 40 years too? It safeguards our culture and independence, gives long-term stability beyond any single sale or succession event, and means the people who pour their skill into every weld and finish now share directly in the success they help create.
Preserving Skills, Investing in Community
From our roots in Helston to our team in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, our people are our greatest asset – many with decades of specialist expertise that can’t be replaced overnight. Employee ownership protects that expertise where it belongs: within our team and the communities we’ve grown alongside, supporting long-term job security and ensuring our craftsmanship is passed on to the next generation, not lost to acquisition or closure.
Accreditations You Can Trust
Formal accreditation matters, especially for our commercial and fit-out clients who need documented evidence of quality and compliance before a project begins. We hold the following industry accreditations, and are always happy to discuss the detail of any of them with you directly:
- Constructionline — verified supplier accreditation for the construction industry
- BSI ISO 9001 — certified quality management systems
- Builders Profile — pre-qualification and compliance accreditation
- Achilles — supply chain risk and compliance verification
Alongside these, our staircase installation work complies with EN1090 structural steel standards, and every staircase we design meets BS5395 Part II 1984 — the British Standard specific to spiral and helical stair safety.
