Spiral UK's Eric Nicholls named in Make UK 130 Honours and appointed trustee of Enginuity and EAL
Our MD has been recognised as one of 130 people shaping the future of UK manufacturing, and is taking on a new role helping to close the sector’s skills gaps.
Eric Nicholls, Managing Director of Spiral UK, has been chosen for the Make UK 130 Honours. The list recognises “130 individuals who go above and beyond contributing to the future of UK Manufacturing.” The honourees come from businesses of every size and from many different sectors, regions and roles.
Make UK recognised Eric for championing manufacturing across Cornwall. His citation mentions bringing businesses together, strengthening links between industry and education, and inspiring the next generation through apprenticeships and skills, as well as giving regional manufacturing a powerful voice.
“I am also amazed and truly humbled that I have been chosen as one of the Make UK 130 Honours. I am in esteemed company!” said Eric.
As well as a new role championing engineering skills
Eric has also been appointed as a trustee of Enginuity and EAL, which together make up the Enginuity Group.
Enginuity is a charity that finds new ways to close skills gaps in UK engineering and manufacturing, so employers have the people and skills they need. EAL is the specialist awarding and end-point assessment organisation for the sector. It supports the qualifications and apprenticeships that build the next generation of engineers.
“I am delighted, and still very surprised, that I have been appointed as a trustee of Enginuity and EAL,” Eric said. “I am so looking forward to working in this role with Ann Watson MBE and her brilliant team.” Ann Watson MBE is CEO of the Enginuity Group.
Why it matters to Spiral UK
Spiral UK has been designing, making and installing bespoke staircases in Cornwall for over 40 years. Eric’s two achievements reflect what we care about as a business: skilled people, strong apprenticeships, and a confident, connected manufacturing community here in the South West.
Congratulations, Eric, from everyone at Spiral UK.
