Harkstead is a beautiful self-build residential project in Suffolk. Our clients were looking for a striking bespoke staircase to make a statement and we think this stunning concrete spiral staircase really met the requirement.
The bespoke staircase has been positioned in the entrance atrium and blends seamlessly with the light airy, peaceful nature of the overall interior design. Set in the heart of the building the stairs create a focal point leading to the first floor living area and then on to a mezzanine level.

The design takes advantage of overhead roof lights with open risers and spindle balustrade filtering the wonderful natural light. Spiral UK worked with our clients to identify the design, materials and finishes that they wanted to create the right effect. Our in-house design, manufacture and install service ensured our high quality standards were met.

Concrete spiral staircase
The concrete spiral staircase is made up of white fair face concrete treads slotted over a core pole with satin polished stainless steel balusters attached to the concrete and handrails which are in the same material. The project included additional toughened glass balustrade to the landings.
The treads were inlaid with porcelain tiles in solo black, these were supplied by Topps Tiles in Ipswich and fitted by N Catling Ceramic Tiling.

Balustrade
4 x 20mm diameter satin polish stainless steel balusters per tread with 50mm diameter handrail in the same material. The landing balustrade included toughened glass panels.

The tread recesses were inlaid with porcelain tiles in Solo Black. They were supplied by Topps Tiles in Ipswich
