Spiral UK Opens its doors wide for National Manufacturing Day

Spiral UK, in association with Make UK, took part in National Manufacturing Day, which sees businesses and organisations in the manufacturing and construction trades across the UK, opening their doors to the public to see first-hand the incredible work they do providing our nation’s infrastructure.

For the third time, Spiral UK opened it’s door to the local and business community giving the opportunity to show what we do in Cornwall to manufacture and send stairs all over the UK and beyond.

Eric Nicholls, MD, commented ” Manufacturing offers brilliant career and job opportunities so it was great to engage with our local schools and colleges and their students so they can see what is on offer.”

The day saw a presentation from Eric Nicholls, followed by a visit to our Design Studio to see where the life of a stair starts, finishing with a detailed tour around the factory to see first-hand the amazing goings on, such as creating the helical curves and cutting out of huge sheets of metal to specific shapes and designs.

Students from around the Duchy enjoyed seeing sparks flying and hearing from our apprentices and how they could one day apply themselves to jobs in the manufacturing and construction trade.

The day was a huge success, with many leaving the event feeling inspired knowing they have a plethora of opportunities in the manufacturing trade within the UK.
