Spiral UK enters a new chapter as an employee-owned business.
We at Spiral UK are excited to announce that we have become employee-owned through the establishment of an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).
Having celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2025, we are proud of the reputation we have built for quality, reliability, and engineering excellence. We have grown steadily while staying committed to providing an outstanding design and manufacturing service, supporting local employment, and offering career development opportunities for our team.
Our move to employee ownership was prompted by Managing Director, Eric Nicholls’ decision to step back from day-to-day management and begin a phased retirement from the company. This gave our leadership associates the chance to explore the best way forward for the business. Becoming an EOT reflects our desire to preserve the culture, independence, and values that have guided us for four decades, while creating an exciting and secure future for everyone who works with us.
Eric Nicholls, Managing Director, said:
“Spiral UK has always been built on the dedication and expertise of its people. Becoming employee-owned is a positive step forward, ensuring the long-term strength of the business and allowing those who contribute to its success every day to share directly in that success. As I begin to step back, the pride I feel in Spiral UK is undeniable. Leaving the company in the capable hands of the people at its heart gives me complete confidence in its future.”
Andrew Holland, Chief Executive Officer, added:
“As we looked to the next chapter for Spiral UK, employee ownership was the right solution. It provides continuity for our customers and suppliers, while rewarding our employees and safeguarding the long-term strength of the business.”
What’s Next?
Our day-to-day management will remain with the existing leadership team, ensuring continuity for our customers, suppliers, and partners with no disruption to operations, contracts, or service levels. The EOT will operate for the long-term benefit of our employees, with trustees appointed to act in their best interests.
We are proud to be joining the growing number of UK manufacturing companies embracing employee ownership – a model recognized for supporting business succession, skills retention, and long-term resilience.
