XTX, Kings Cross, London
A helical statement in steel, timber and bronze with soft LED lighting.
This architectural feature does more than connect two floors. We designed a striking helical staircase that anchors the open-plan interior, using a bold mix of industrial materials and refined finishes to set the tone for the entire fit-out.

The structure is built around a precision-engineered mild steel frame, featuring folded plate treads and a distinct inner column stringer. To achieve a seamless look, the exterior is wrapped in custom-patterned formwork with GRG (Glass Reinforced Gypsum) cladding, which flows into a smooth, continuous soffit on the underside.
The industrial weight of the steel is softened by the warmth of natural timber treads, and feature LED lighting for a subtle, high-end finish. The frameless glass balustrading on the upper landing keeps the space feeling light and connected. By balancing these contrasting textures, the staircase becomes a functional piece of art that defines the character of the project.
